Microdosing protocols
About
Experience Onward is one of the first licensed psilocybin service centers in the United States, operating out of a 10-room facility just 20 minutes from the Portland International Airport. Founded by two-time Stanley Cup champion Daniel Carcillo—who overcame post-concussion syndrome, depression, and suicidal ideation through guided psilocybin therapy—Onward combines physician oversight, trauma-informed facilitation, and world-class wellness amenities to help clients heal, grow, and move forward with clarity. Their community-focused approach resonates with athletes, executives, veterans, and individuals recovering from concussions and mental health challenges.
Why AJH Works With Onward
Experience Onward is AJH’s direct research partner. In April 2025, AJH and Onward co-conducted a groundbreaking pilot study on psilocybin and traumatic brain injury—the first of its kind at a licensed U.S. service center. Eight athletes with long-term concussion symptoms underwent guided psilocybin sessions, with neuroimaging and psychological assessments facilitated by Onaya Science. Results showed measurable improvements in brain connectivity and psychological well-being, with study coordinator Niguel Netzband, MSc, leading data collection on the ground. As a U.S.-based, legally regulated center, Onward offers AJH athletes a domestic pathway to psilocybin therapy without the need for international travel.

Pre-screening medical assessment and physician clearance before therapy
Individually tailored psilocybin dosing guided by licensed, trauma-informed facilitators
Group and individual ceremony options in a safe, regulated setting
Neuroimaging and bio-analysis as part of AJH’s research protocol

Fredonia, Colombia (1 hour south of Medellín)
Compounds:
Ayahuasca (Yagé)
About
LaWayra is an authentic ancestral medicine retreat located in the mountains outside Medellín, Colombia. Taita Fernando began his training at age seven and drank medicine three times a week for ten years straight as part of his apprenticeship.
The retreat operates with a 1:2–3 facilitator-to-participant ratio and an international team of experienced ceremony facilitators and medicine musicians. Ceremonies and integration circles are conducted in English. With over 500 Google reviews and 200+ video testimonials, LaWayra has built a reputation as one of the most trusted ayahuasca retreats in South America — combining authentic traditional medicine with structured preparation and integration support.
Why AJH Works With Onward
LaWayra offers AJH athletes access to authentic, lineage-held ayahuasca medicine in a setting that prioritizes safety, integration, and traditional ceremonial integrity. The combination of a respected Indigenous Taita, rigorous intake screening, and a structured integration program aligns with AJH's standards for medical supervision and athlete-centered care. ❋Ayahuasca Foundation
“TRADITIONAL CEREMONY AND EDUCATION, LED BY SHIPIBO CURANDEROS”
Location:
Iquitos, Peru
Compounds:
Ayahuasca
Traditional plant dietas
About
The Ayahuasca Foundation is a Peruvian nonprofit offering healing retreats and educational courses in the Amazon rainforest, led by Shipibo curanderos working within their own tradition. Founded in 2008 by Carlos Tanner after four years living and studying with a curandero, the Foundation works to preserve Indigenous wisdom through retreats, educational courses, and research into the ancestral plant medicine practices of the Peruvian Amazon.
The Foundation operates two facilities: the Riosbo Ayahuasca Research and Education Center and the Inkan Kena Plant Medicine School, a more rustic center modeled after a traditional Shipibo community. Riosbo opened in 2017 and began hosting medical research in 2018.
Why AJH Works With the Ayahuasca Foundation
The Ayahuasca Foundation anchors AJH's connection to traditional Indigenous healing practice. Where our clinical partners bring medical infrastructure, the Foundation brings lineage — ceremony held by healers trained within an unbroken tradition, and an educational program that treats that tradition as knowledge to be learned rather than extracted.
The Foundation also maintains its own research center. Studies conducted there have been published in journals including Frontiers in Psychiatry, with ongoing research into chronic pain, PTSD in veterans, and changes to the gut biome. That combination — traditional practice alongside documented outcomes — is what makes the partnership a fit for AJH's model.
What Athletes Experience
Pre-arrival medical screening and contraindication review, including medication interactions
Traditional ceremony led by Shipibo curanderos
Plant dieta protocols and dietary preparation
Small-group cohorts in a remote Amazon setting
